Key takeaways
  • Replace Combat early with a style that supports your current grind; mastery is retained when you switch and previously bought styles can be relearned.
  • Train the four basic styles to 300 mastery for Superhuman, then continue their upgrade paths toward the 400-mastery Godhuman requirements.
  • The strongest long-term unlock is not always the fastest leveling style; match the tool to grinding, raids, sea events, or PvP.

The fighting-style progression tree

Every new account starts with Combat. Once replaced, Combat cannot normally be relearned, but the purchased styles keep their mastery and can be learned again from their teachers. This makes early mastery work useful even after changing builds.

Base styleUpgrade pathLong-term checkpoint
Dark StepDeath Step300 base for Superhuman; 400 base and 400 upgrade for Godhuman path
ElectricElectric Claw300 base for Superhuman; 400 base and 400 upgrade for Godhuman path
Water Kung FuSharkman Karate300 base for Superhuman; 400 base plus Water Key for the upgrade

What to use in each sea

In First Sea, buy a real style early and choose based on budget and attack feel. Water Kung Fu is a sensible long-term route for players planning to grind with Buddha later; Electric is another useful mastery investment. Dark Step is cheaper but has slower M1 attacks.

Second Sea is where style planning becomes valuable. Train all four basic styles toward 300 for Superhuman while taking at least the route you actively use toward 400 and its V2 upgrade. Third Sea then adds Electric Claw, Dragon Talon, Godhuman, Sanguine Art, and later style upgrades.

Prepare for Godhuman without wasting mastery

Godhuman currently requires 400 mastery on Superhuman, Death Step, Electric Claw, Sharkman Karate, and Dragon Talon, plus Money, Fragments, and four material types. Start the chain during normal progression instead of leaving every mastery grind until max level.

  • Finish enemies with the style you are training so it receives mastery.
  • Use compact high-experience enemies or bosses you can defeat consistently; include respawn time in your route.
  • Collect required materials while leveling in their regions instead of returning for every material at the end.

Godhuman, Sanguine Art, and your actual goal

Godhuman is a major PvP and collection milestone, but its knockback and mastery cost do not automatically make it the best normal-enemy grinder. Keep a faster or easier style available when efficiency is the goal.

Sanguine Art follows a separate Third Sea route centered on Leviathan content, materials, Money, and Fragments; it does not require mastery on the other fighting styles. Choose it because its mechanics fit your build, not as a shortcut that erases the value of the Godhuman progression tree.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does fighting-style mastery reset when I switch styles?

No. Purchased styles retain mastery, and they can normally be relearned from their teachers without paying the original purchase again.

What mastery is needed for Superhuman?

Current requirements are 300 mastery on Dark Step, Electric, Water Kung Fu, and Dragon Breath, followed by the purchase from the Martial Arts Master.

Is Godhuman the best style for grinding?

Not automatically. It is a powerful endgame and PvP style, but knockback and move behavior can make simpler M1-focused styles more efficient for grouped normal enemies.
